TERMS & CONDITIONS CHAIR LADYand SOFA LADIES UPHOLSTERY 


 

The Contract shall exist between myself (CHAIR LADY and/or SOFA LADIES) and the Domestic Customer

 

  • For fixed upholstery, all old covers will be removed prior to upholstery.  These covers will be discarded unless the customer advises prior, by writing, that they need to be returned.  An email is fine.

 

  • Any additional instructions must be confirmed in writing and a price agreed for additional work and materials, before work can proceed.  Additional work, which may not be apparent when the estimate was provided, will be advised to the customer upon discovery, and a course of action agreed.  This includes frame repairs which may be hidden by upholstery. Clearly, additional work not initially revealed upon inspection, will take longer to undertake

 

  • Chair Lady and Sofa Ladies endeavor to deliver items forming part of this contract at the time specified.  However, this is dependent upon materials being available to complete the work.  I will keep the customer informed at all times of supply problems which can affect delivery thereof.

 

  • All new fillings applied to furniture manufactured after 1950 will be in compliance with the Furniture & Furnishings Regulations 1988.  (Fire Safety Standards).  All new covering fabric, supplied by us, will comply with the regulations with the exception of covers which contain 80+ natural fibers when it is acceptable to use an interliner which complies with regulations.  Furniture manufactured prior to 1950 does not come within the scope of the 1988 Regulations with regard to filling or cover.  

 

  • I/we reserve the right to apply 15% of the quote, for handling fabrics not supplied by myself or £50 flat surcharge

 

  • All estimates are provided for labour costs.  Estimates EXCLUDE new top cover fabric prices as these vary greatly, depending on what is chosen

 

  • With regard Customer Own Material (COM), when a customer supplies their own, it is their responsibility to ensure the fabric is suitable for the purpose for which they intend to use it and that it complies with relevant Fire Regulations.  It is also their responsibility to provide correct meterage.  Please consider how some older’ vintage fabric may perish and may not be as sturdy or robust as modern day fabrics.  Fabric composition has changed immensely over the last few years.

 

  • COM fabrics: Please request fabric companies roll fabric on tubes.  One continuous length of fabric should be used unless a contingency is allowed for pattern repeats/matching.  I will do my best to remove creases but this cannot be guaranteed.

 

  • I cannot be responsible for fabric flaws.  

 

  • I/we will do my best to advise customers of the suitability of fabrics, whether supplied by me or not however, I can only take responsibility for materials supplied by myself ONLY.

 

  • I/we will do my best to advise customers of the suitability of fabrics supplied by me.  The customer’s choice of fabric is their responsibility and the onus is theirs to choose a suitable fabric.

 

  • Customers are responsible for their fabric selections.  Sample swatches are provided prior to final fabric selection.   Customers are able to put the swatches through vigorous testing prior to selecting fabric.  

 

  • Sample swatches can be kept by the customer but all fabric books must be returned

 

  • Responsibility of the Customers to provide the correct fabric code and colour to the upholsterer,  ready for ordering 

 

  • Decisions regarding pattern matching and piping are to be confirmed before work commences.  There can be no changes once work has begun.  Printed and woven fabrics - these often don’t match exactly due to the nature of the loose weave.  Every effort will be made to match as closely as possible.

 

  • Insurance claims:  I undertake all work on behalf of the customer.  In the case of insurance work, I will undertake work on the clear understanding the account will be paid by the customer, when the account becomes due.

 

  • Payment terms:  A minimum 50% non-refundable payment is required for us to accept an order, unless previously discussed.  The balance is due 7 days of order.  Interest on overdue accounts will be charged at 1% per month or part thereof.

 

  • PRIORITY orders (where possible) will incur a surcharge of 20%

 

  • Lead time commences once payment has been received for fabric or 50% deposit received.  Lead time is currently 8-12 weeks unless otherwise stated.

 

  • Complaints will be dealt with as quickly as possible and successful resolution will be my/our prime objective.  

 

  • Work is guaranteed for 12 months.  

 

  • Carriage charges are extra, according to the fabric company who set the fee.  

 

  • I reserve the right to refuse work

 

  • Photos of ‘work in progress’ might be taken and used on our social media unless otherwise informed, in writing by the customer,  prior to work commencing.

 

  • All photos taken will remain the property of Chair Lady and Sofa Ladies and may be used as promotional material for our Website www.chairlady.co.uk.  No photos will be used or taken which could identify furniture with an address or customer.

 

  • Payment of balance is due upon the day of project delivery

 

  • Concerning blinds and curtains - Fitting cannot be guaranteed.  We can advise regarding tracks required but cannot be responsible for these.  Please bear in mind, different fabrics carry different weight and some tracks will need to be upgraded to accommodate additional load.   All roman blind tracks should be fitted with ‘breakaway’ chains unless the customer specifically requests otherwise in which case, it is ALWAYS stated dangerous.  Chair Lady is happy to dress windows and any soft furnishings made.

 

  • Space is limited.  I reserve the right to charge for storage.  £35 per week, per item.  I will advise and remind customers of same, before levying.

 

  • Estimates given will last 28 days
